Cozy Toes Boot Project

Anna poses in K-mart

At the end of the 2001-02 winter season, with financial help from the Fairbanks Rotary club, we bought the unsold winter boots from K-mart for a significant discount.

We loaded almost 1000 pairs of boots into pick-up trucks and stored them in a local Rotarian's warehouse over the summer of 2002.

The next fall we gave out hundreds of pairs of winter boots to families in need at the Fairbanks Food Bank. In less than 30 minutes we went through 300 pairs, mostly children's sizes.

We also loaded large plastic bags full of boots onto the last Nenana River barge of the season, and sent a couple hundred pairs of boots to three villages along the river.

All in all, one of our all time favorite projects!
