June 15th, 2002 was a very special day for the Aurora Borealis Rotaract Club and for the Interior Alaska Rotary family. On this sunny day, the chartering of the new Aurora Borealis Rotaract Club was celebrated. In recognition of this exciting accomplishment, Rotaractors and Rotarians turned out to the beach at Chena Lakes Recreational Site for a pig roast picnic.

Rotaractors from the Mat-Su club made the road trip to Fairbanks to help us celebrate the birth of this new club. We enjoyed a great day of food and frisbee as we basked in the summer sun. Also enjoying the afternoon rays was Past District Governor Jack Randolf who was at the event to present the club with its new charter.
