ROTARACT CLUB OF INTERIOR ALASKA

Rose Delivery

Adding value to a Rotary fundraiser is an excellent way for Rotaract to earn some money while providing a service to the local Rotary clubs. Every year the four Interior Alaska Rotary clubs do a rose sale fundraiser. In 2002, the North Pole club requested that the Rotaract club deliver the roses purchased through their club members. In exchange for a day's worth of footwork, the North Pole club donated $500 to the Rotaract club.

When the day to deliver came, we filled two vehicles with long-stem roses and set off to deliver the roses to homes and businesses throughout Fairbanks, North Pole and the surrounding areas. The day was long and hectic as we tried to find some homes that seemed to be hidden so well that even trick-or-treaters would not be able to find them! Thankfully, our energies were recharged throughout the day by the smiles and appreciation of the gracious and grateful recipients of our rose deliveries.

All in all, the project was a great way for us to get involved with a local Rotary club, deliver some smiles to offices and doorsteps around town and to make some money. What a combo!
